Sacred Heart Primary School in Toowoomba recently hosted an exciting Under 8’s Day event, celebrating the joy of learning and play for young children. The day was filled with fun activities, fostering a sense of community and promoting their Catholic values.
The morning started at 9:00am, when the school’s hall came alive with a vibrant array of activities, each designed to captivate young hearts. Children immersed themselves in a world of creativity by participating in the many interactive activities including crafts, story reading, face painting, obstacle courses and a photo booth. Local providers also offered children a chance to try activities such as gymnastics and Taekwondo, allowing them to try new things.
The spirit of Under 8’s Day extended beyond Sacred Heart’s walls, and children from local kindergartens joined the festivities, forming new friendships and sharing laughter.
Under 8’s Day emphasised the importance of play, exploration and creativity. Through hands-on activities, children learned problem-solving skills, empathy and resilience. Play is essential for cognitive, physical and social development, and it fosters imagination, problem-solving skills and emotional well-being. It’s a holistic experience that contributes to a child’s growth and development.
During the event, parents, teachers and students interacted, reinforcing values like kindness, respect and fairness.
These shared moments create lasting memories. It was heartwarming to witness the Sacred Heart community coming together to celebrate, and to have fun!
