Catholic Social Teachings reinforce human dignity and emphasise that every human being is created in God’s image and likeness. Consequently, every person is valuable and worthy of respect. Everyone in the Church must ensure that the fundamental rights of all people, especially children and the vulnerable, are respected.
The policy approved by Bishop Robert McGuckin covers the measures needed to safeguard against abuse through the development of respectful relationships and a commitment to the Diocese of Toowoomba’s Code of Ethical Behaviour as well as adherence to the legislative imperatives of the State. The Diocesan Office for Professional Standards and Safeguarding has been established to support parishes and agencies of the Diocese in implementing the policy and safeguarding against abuse and harm.
