The Catholic Diocese of Toowoomba is pleased to announce the success of the Broncos Legends Lunch, held on Friday, 31 July, which raised $56,000 towards the restoration of the historic St Patrick’s Cathedral.

Guests enjoyed an exclusive afternoon with representatives from one of Australia’s most iconic rugby league clubs, the Brisbane Broncos. Hosted by renowned sports broadcaster Ben Dobbin, the event featured a special Q&A with Dave Donaghy, CEO of the Brisbane Broncos; Troy Thomson, General Manager – Football Operations; and Broncos forward Corey Jensen.

The timing of Corey Jensen’s appearance was particularly significant, coming just one day after he announced his retirement from the NRL. Guests were given a unique opportunity to hear firsthand reflections on his career, his journey through rugby league and his future beyond the game, adding a special and memorable dimension to the event.

The event brought together business leaders, community members and supporters from across the region in support of the ongoing restoration of St Patrick’s Cathedral, one of Toowoomba’s most treasured heritage landmarks.

The Diocese extends its sincere thanks to its corporate supporters, sponsors and attendees whose generosity and commitment made the event such a success.

The funds raised will directly support restoration works at St Patrick’s Cathedral, helping preserve an important place of faith, history and community for the Diocese of Toowoomba and the wider Darling Downs region.
