The Australian Catholic Migrant and Refugee Office fully support the current policy of hosting asylum seekers in the community on bridging visas and in community residence determination. We have great respect for the decision to increase Australia’s humanitarian intake to 20,000 each year and also believe it is appropriate for Australia to defend the right of all people to seek asylum. Priests' Retirement FoundationThis Father's Day as we celebrate Dads everywhere, please keep in your prayers the Priests of our Diocese. Each year parishioners within the Toowoomba Diocese have an opportunity to support the Priests' Retirement Foundation - it's a way of showing gratitude for the ministry of the Priests of the Diocese who are now retired after many years of faithful service. The Foundation helps by contributing to rent, nursing home fees, taxis and other living costs. Please help by "Caring for those who cared" and continue to care (many of the Diocese's retirees are still in active ministry) by picking up a donation envelope from your local parish or printing a donation slip and posting to, Father's Day Appeal 2012, PO Box 1262, Toowoomba Q 4350. Thank you for your continued support. August 2012

Feast of Mary of the Southern CrossSaturday 1st September is the Feast of the patroness of the diocese, Mary of the Southern Cross. The Patronal Feast is a day on which we especially pray for the whole diocese and recall that it is through the diocese that we are brought into communion with the universal Church. This Feast is especially ours and is an opportunity to renew our bonds as a diocese. God of all peoples, Through the intercession of Mary of the Southern Cross, may the people of this diocese and all who live within our shores be gathered to form one people. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. © Diocese of Toowoomba, QLD, 2000 August 2012

Tony Fenelon Flood Relief Concert - Follow UpFriday 11th May welcomed world renowned organist Tony Fenelon to the Our Lady of Lourdes School hall for the Tony Fenelon Flood Relief Concert. Tony played the latest Roland organs for over two hours. The technological capability of these instruments was incredible, but the skill and finesse Tony displayed to make the instruments sound so good was phenomenal. Aside from being wowed by Tony the aim of the concert was to raise funds for the flood affected areas of our Diocese. The concert raised over $800 for the Flood Relief Disaster Fund. The Our Lady of Lourdes parish would like to thank everybody that attended and donated to the event, without local support the fundraiser would not have been a success. June 2012

Grass Root's Disaster FundWith many parts of the Diocese again affected by floods, we must prepare for the cost of it. For some it is the ultimate price of life, for others it is a loss of livelihood, and so many more it will be loss and damage of their home. In 2011 Bishop Morris established a fund to help those in immediate need of food, clothes and other basic necessities called "Grass Roots Disaster Fund". You can help the Grass Roots Disaster Fund by making a donation at your local church, contacting Bishop's House or the Diocesan Development Fund. Your donation will go to helping those within the local community most in need. Please note these donations are not tax deductible. Starting with communication with the local parish priest or pastoral leader, we will be able to identify those in need for immediate help. For tax deductible donations, please consider giving to St Vincent de Paul. Please keep in your prayers the people of St George, Mitchell, Roma, Charleville and surrounding communities. February 2012
