The James Byrne Centre is a facility for groups to hold retreats, meetings and conferences. We provide catering and accommodation for groups ranging from 20-130 persons.

This centre was built in 1979 by the Catholic Diocese of Toowoomba as a Retreat and Education centre and was  named after the first Bishop of Toowoomba, James Byrne.
Bishop Edward Kelly was the driving force behind the establishment of this Centre and his hope was that "young people would be able to get away and do some deep thinking on the convictions and purpose of life".

It is established on a quiet 130 acres between Toowoomba and Highfields. Although new Highfields housing estates are approaching the Centre, the area is still largely surrounded by bushland. This beautiful natural setting makes it an idyllic place. The Centre is used by many Catholic schools and groups as well as many different faiths and a growing number of the general public in the way of conferences etc.

The main accommodation block sleeps 90 people mostly on a twin share basis with 4 single ensuites.  There is a separate 3 bedroom self contained unit at the end of the building which is often used by the presenters for the various groups or staff with the school groups. Sanctuary House is self contained accommodation with 15 beds, again on a twin share basis. The site also features an commercial kitchen and dinning area (seating 120 - 150 people), meeting halls, chapel, gardens and a bushwalking track.
